expensive to be poor

the rent goes up
and the gas goes up
and the bills go up
more and more
I know one thing for sure
it's expensive to be poor

I wake up tired every morning
and work hard every day
for the power and the glory
or my meager pay
but somehow I don't bring home 
as much as before
man, it's expensive to be poor
