I tried to settle down

I did my best not to worry

I told myself I was okay

I did not have to hurry

but I couldn't help

fearing the worst

of all the blessings in life

I was a curse

          help me if you can

I caught myself red-handed

when I tried to help myself

through the brambles and the briars

left there by someone else
